Toews-to-Handzus starts Stanley Cup handoff

Jonathan Toews is only two months removed from his 25th birthday, but he’s already captained the Chicago Blackhawks to the Stanley Cup championship twice.

Toews hoisted Lord Stanley for a second time Monday night after the Blackhawks scored twice in 17 seconds late in the third period to rally for a 3-2 victory against the Boston Bruins in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final at TD Garden.

After taking a photo with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, Toews briefly skated with the most prestigious trophy in all of sports before handing it to 36-year-old Michal Handzus, the oldest Chicago player dressed for the game. He handed it to 38-year-old forward Jamal Mayers, who didn't play in the series but is the oldest player listed in Chicago's roster. Next up was 34-year-old Michal Rozsival, the oldest defenseman.
