Report: Sharks sign coach McLellan to extension
Report: San Jose Sharks sign Todd McLellan to extension.

TSN reported Wednesday the San Jose Sharks have extended the contract of coach Todd McLellan.

In addition, its expected McLellan's staff, including assistant coaches Larry Robinson and Jim Johnson, will return.

In five seasons with the Sharks, McLellan has a record of 220-108-88. The Sharks have made the Stanley Cup Playoffs every season, won a pair of Pacific Division titles, and advanced to the Western Conference Final twice.

This season the Sharks finished sixth in the Western Conference but swept the third-seeded Vancouver Canucks in the first round before losing in seven games to the Los Angeles Kings in the conference semifinals.

"I think they've done an excellent job. All of the components of it," Sharks general manager Doug Wilson said following the Kings series. "Larry and Jimmy coming in, it makes us a complete staff that not only allows us to play the way we want to play today, it helps the younger players get ready to play. I think they did an excellent job. Very proud of the job they did."

Quote of the Day

It's pretty crazy, but believe me when I say we didn't draft these players with the mindset we had to because they had good hockey-playing dads. It just turned out that way. But we're certainly glad they're a part of our organization.
