Boston fans gather to send surging Bruins off to Chicago for Stanley Cup finals

BOSTON - The Bruins got a rousing sendoff from Boston fans before boarding a plane for Chicago to meet the Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup finals.

About 1,000 fans filled the concourse at the TD Garden in their black and gold shirts, waving signs and chanting "We want the Cup!"

The Bruins walked by after practice in their suits and ties, giving fans high-fives and posing for pictures. Players told reporters afterward that they aren't expecting such a warm welcome in Chicago.

The Bruins will play the Blackhawks in the best-of-seven Stanley Cup finals for a chance at their second NHL title in three years. The series begins Wednesday night. Game 3 is in Boston next Monday.

Going back to the first round, Boston has won nine of its last 10 playoff games.

Quote of the Day

There was a lot of talk off the ice. From a player's standpoint, that's not the talk in the room. GMs make decisions, coaches make decisions, but as a team you have to come together and be ready to go, and we are.
