Play of the week: Bergeron ends it in double OT
Play of the week: Patrice Bergeron ends it in double OT

Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand was two years old when his linemate, Jaromir Jagr, was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins. But the two teammates came together in double overtime Wednesday to start a rush that ended with Patrice Bergeron's goal, which gave Boston a 3-0 series lead over Jagr's former team in the Eastern Conference Final.

With just under five minutes remaining in the second overtime period in Game 3, the 41-year-old Jagr pivoted with the puck near the Penguins bench before Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin stole possession and started skating the other way. But Jagr made a heads-up play to take the puck back before sending Marchand down the left wing into the Pittsburgh zone.

As Penguins defenseman Deryk Engelland began to eliminate Marchand's space along the boards, the Bruins wing made a perfect centering pass to teammate Patrice Bergeron as he was being hounded by Brooks Orpik, charging towards the Pittsburgh net. Reading the play perfectly, Bergeron managed to move around and box out Orpik, before placing his stick on the ice to redirect the puck past the outstretched glove of goaltender Tomas Vokoun.

Game over. Bruins win. Penguins trail the series, 3-0.

It was a perfect rush that saw all three linemates touch the puck. And if the Bruins end up eliminating Pittsburgh to advance to the Stanley Cup Final, they may look back at this 10-second capsule as a big reason why.
