Stars unveil new logo, colour amid several changes on 20th anniversary of move to Dallas

DALLAS - The Dallas Stars have unveiled a new logo and jersey in a celebration of several changes coming on the 20th anniversary of the franchise's move to Texas.

The logo revealed Tuesday features a "D'' over a slight alteration of the familiar star that was part of the logo when the Minnesota North Stars moved south in 1993. The words "Dallas Stars" are in a circle around the logo on the jersey's sleeve.

The Stars also announced to several thousand fans at a theatre in downtown Dallas that they will retire the No. 9 of franchise icon Mike Modano during a home game on March 8.

The club also said it will hold training camp in nearby Fort Worth for the first time.

Quote of the Day

For our team, as a group, we've never been this far before, and so it's just more lessons learned, and sometimes you have to go to the school of hard knocks to find out what works and what doesn't. We've got a young group. They've played some unreal hockey here to get us this far, and we showed if we're not going to play the proper way, a really, really good hockey team is going to beat you, and that's what they did. It's a lesson learned.
