Buffalo Sabres sign 2011 4th-round draft pick, Colin Jacobs, to 3-year deal

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Buffalo Sabres have signed rookie forward Colin Jacobs to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Jacobs, 6-foot-1 and 202 pounds, was selected by Buffalo in the fourth round of the 2011 draft. From Coppell, Texas, he finished last season playing for Buffalo's American Hockey League affiliate in Rochester on a tryout basis, and had a goal and two assists in 11 games.

He joined Rochester after completing his Canadian junior career with Prince George of the Western Hockey League. He led Prince George with 25 goals and 53 points in 66 games last season.

In 252 career games, Jacobs had 142 points (69 goals, 73 assists) and 332 penalty minutes.

The signing was announced late Thursday night.

Quote of the Day

Obviously there's a lot of expectations around me but it's something I try not to focus on. I'm just trying to go out there, be myself on the ice every day, try to get better, be myself around the guys in the locker room. I think that's what's made me successful and the person that I am.
