Seguin, the Boston Bruins' leading scorer in 2011-12, had a lone assist in his team's first 10 Stanley Cup Playoff games this spring, though the Bruins overcame his lack of production to win their opening-round series against the Toronto Maple Leafs and grab a 3-0 second-round lead against the New York Rangers.

The Bruins couldn't hold 2-0 and 3-2 leads and lost 4-3 to the Rangers in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference Semifinals on Thursday night. The good news was that for the first time this spring, they did get some offensive production from Seguin.

He set up Torey Krug's power-play goal in the second period before giving Boston a 3-2 lead in the third with his first goal of the postseason. However, the Rangers tied the game on Brian Boyle's power-play goal before Chris Kreider scored 7:03 into overtime.

The outcome left Seguin with mixed feelings -- happy to hit the scoresheet, disappointed his team couldn't close out the Rangers.

"It's a weird feeling. Of course it feels good. I don't know how many shots, but there have been too many shots I have taken that haven't gone in," Seguin said. "I want to be relied on as a guy who can bury the puck. It feels good that it went in, but it's not a good feeling losing."

Seguin's struggles earned a demotion to the third line with Chris Kelly and Rich Peverley for much of the series against New York. But Seguin got some power-play time in Game 4 and made the most of it. With Rangers defenseman Roman Hamrlik off for delay of game in the first period, Seguin fired three shots.

"Having a power play got me into the game right away," Seguin said. "The last game, I didn't start off playing too much in the first period."

In the second period, his pass set up Krug's power-play goal at 7:41. He scored his goal at 8:06 of the third period when he got his rebound and beat Henrik Lundqvist.

The two-point night gives him something to build on for Game 5 on Saturday at TD Garden (5:30 p.m. ET; NBCSN, TSN, RDS).

"I've felt great as the last few games have gone on," Seguin said. "I feel I'm gaining more confidence and making smarter plays. So I want to stick with it."
