Timely return: Jason Spezza will be back in Ottawa Senators lineup for Game 3

OTTAWA - Jason Spezza will make his much anticipated return to the Ottawa Senators on Sunday.

The Senators star forward hasn't played since Jan. 27 after being sidelined by a back injury that required surgery.

Spezza is expected to line up with Milan Michalek and possibly Colin Greening for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series that the Pittsburgh Penguins lead 2-0.

The 29-year-old will immediately add depth to a struggling offence and power play.

"I'm excited to have a chance to play again," said Spezza. "I feel ready to play."

Spezza had two goals and three assists in just five games during the regular season.

Quote of the Day

What we expected is what we got. Very mature young individual that's focused. He is on the right track. He's not only a great hockey individual, but he's a good person off the ice. He seemed to take a leadership role with this group right off the hop and ran away with it, and was vocal, was respectful, was everything it takes to be a Panther. His future looks bright.
