Florida Panthers forward Jonathan Huberdeau had successful surgery on his hip Tuesday, the team announced.

Huberdeau is expected to make a full recovery and be ready for the start of training camp in September, the announcement said.

"Hey Fans, surgery went well today!" Huberdeau wrote on his verified Twitter account. "Thanks for the support, and I will be back after a great rehab."

Huberdeau, who turns 20 on June 4, is a finalist for the Calder Trophy, given to the NHL rookie of the year. He had 14 goals and 17 assists while playing all 48 games for Florida this season. His 31 points tied for the NHL rookie lead with Nail Yakupov of the Edmonton Oilers.

Huberdeau was the third player chosen in the 2011 NHL Draft.
