Detroit Red Wings' Danny DeKeyser to miss rest of playoffs.

Detroit Red Wings coach Mike Babcock told reporters rookie defenseman Danny DeKeyser will miss the remainder of the Stanley Cup Playoffs with a broken thumb, which he sustained in the third period of the Red Wings' 5-4 overtime win against the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday in Game 2 of their Western Conference Quarterfinal series.

"He's done," Babcock said, adding, "when we lost DeKeyser, that was a big blow."

DeKeyser signed with the Red Wings in early April after his season ended at Western Michigan University and stepped right into the lineup. He provided an element of speed and puck-moving ability on the back end, and played so well he jumped ahead of veterans Ian White and Carlo Colaiacovo on the depth chart. In Game 1 against Anaheim, DeKeyser logged 19:31 in ice time, the second-highest total of his career.

Babcock did not say which defenseman -- White, Colaiacovo or rookie Brian Lashoff -- would replace DeKeyser when the series resumes with Game 3 on Saturday in Detroit (7:30 p.m. ET, NBCSN, TSN).
