Bylsma: No update on injured forward Neal
Pittsburgh Penguins forward James Neal left Game 1 of his team's Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series against the New York Islanders on Wednesday after taking two second-period shifts. He has not played since.

PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh Penguins forward James Neal left Game 1 of his team's Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series against the New York Islanders on Wednesday after taking two second-period shifts. He did not return.

Neal was spotted limping after absorbing a hit during a Pittsburgh power play during the opening minute of the second. He took one shift after a Kris Letang goal 1:19 into the period.

Coach Dan Bylsma did not provide an update on Neal in his postgame remarks.

"I don't have one, and I'm not going to give you one," Bylsma said.

Neal, who finished the regular season tied for 10th in the NHL in goals with 21 in 40 games, missed eight games down the stretch of the regular season because of a concussion. Neal had a hat trick in his return game Saturday, an 8-3 victory against the Carolina Hurricanes in the regular-season finale.

Rookie Beau Bennett, who scored the first goal of Wednesday's game, was skating in Neal's place on a line with Evgeni Malkin and Chris Kunitz.
