Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Ray Emery left in the first period of the team's game against the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday with a lower-body injury and will not return.

The Blackhawks announced the injury via their Twitter account.

Emery played 13:49 before leaving with the injury. He allowed one goal on eight shots. Corey Crawford replaced him in goal.

The 30-year-old has a 16-1-0 record in 20 appearances this season with a goals-against average of 1.91 for the League-leading Blackhawks.

Quote of the Day

I don't know how he does it. I don't know how he gets his body parallel with the player and pulls it through his legs like that. I know he's tried it a couple times in practice and it's never worked, so how he does it in a game, it's incredible.
