The Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday recalled forward Jared Staal from the American Hockey League and likely will have him in the lineup for a home game against the New York Rangers on Thursday.

That would mean all four Staal brothers would be in the same building for the first time in the NHL.

"With where we’re at in the season, there are going to be different guys that get different looks and chances," Hurricanes captain Eric Staal told the team's website Wednesday. "The more [Staals], the merrier."

Jared, 22, is the youngest of the brothers. In 52 AHL games this season with the Charlotte Checkers, he has four goals and three assists.

He'll join older brothers Eric and Jordan as teammates with the Hurricanes. Marc, the second-oldest brother, plays for the Rangers but is unlikely to get on the ice Thursday night. He hasn't played since sustaining an eye injury during a game March 5.

"Maybe he’ll dress for warm-up and just kind of skate around so we’re all out there at the same time," Eric said jokingly.

Hurricanes coach Kirk Muller said Jared likely start will on Jordan’s wing.

“It will be fun for them,” Muller said.

A former Phoenix Coyotes draft pick (No. 49, 2008), Jared was traded to the Hurricanes in 2010. He is the sixth player to make his NHL debut for the Hurricanes this season.

I've been getting frustrated lately, and the only thing keeping me sane was the team winning and other people stepping up and scoring. Then you just kind of let it go and realize you can end the series with one shot, that frustration goes away for a brief moment, and that's what happened.
