Philippe Cadorette stopped 33 shots as the Baie-Comeau Drakkar edged the visiting Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 2-1 on Friday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff action.

Valentin Zykov broke a 1-1 tie at 7:46 of the third period for the Drakkar, who lead the best-of-seven third-round matchup 1-0.

Baie-Comeau's Jeremy Gregoire opened the scoring just 1:06 into the first period while Petr Straka picked up a single assist to move into second in playoff scoring. The 20-year-old forward has eight goals and 19 points in nine games.

Christian Marti scored for the Armada 45 seconds into the third period and it was his first of the playoffs in 10 games played.

Blainville-Boisbriand's Etienne Marcoux turned away 31-of-33 shots in defeat.

The Drakkar, who are 9-0-0 in the playoffs, went 2 for 4 on the power play while the Armada failed to score on five chances with the man advantage.

Game 2 is scheduled for Saturday when Baie-Comeau hosts Blainville-Boisbriand at the Centre Henry-Leonard.

Quote of the Day

I have been blessed to play for 16 years in the NHL; it has been an amazing ride. I would like to thank the Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers organizations and owners for providing me the opportunity to play the sport I love for so many years. I could have never played for so long or accomplished all that I have without the unwavering love and support from my wife, Heather, our three sons, Ryan, Lucas, and Mason, and my parents.
