Bruins forwards Marchand and Bergeron return to play after missing time with concussions

BOSTON - Boston Bruins forwards Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron both returned to the lineup on Wednesday night after missing time with concussions.

Bergeron had sat out six games with the fourth diagnosed concussion of his career. Marchand had missed two games.

The Bruins hosted the Buffalo Sabres in Boston's first major sporting event since the Boston Marathon bombings. Monday's game against Ottawa has been rescheduled for April 28.

Marchand is the team's leading goal-scorer, with 16. He also had 17 assists coming into the game. Bergeron, the team's best centre, has 10 goals and 21 assists this season.

Quote of the Day

The groove of being behind a bench is going to be interesting at first, but thank God we have a few exhibition games to get rid of those cobwebs. Overall the excitement of it all and the freshness and coming back refreshed, all those things are going to be assets. If [the players] come ready to give their best effort in practice and games, good things are going to happen. I'm always looking for results. It's not always on the scoreboard. It's winning and building something.

— Bryan Trottier on making his return to coaching as an assistant with the Sabres
