Phoenix Coyotes sign forward Tobias Rieder to 3-year, entry level deal; Obtained from Oilers

GLENDALE, Ariz. - The Phoenix Coyotes have signed forward Tobias Rieder a three-year, entry-level contract.

Coyotes general manager Don Maloney announced the signing Monday.

Rieder was acquired from the Edmonton Oilers in a March 29 trade for forward Kale Kessy.

The 20-year-old Rieder was a fourth-round draft pick of Edmonton in 2011.

Rieder had 27 goals and 29 assists in 52 games this season for the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League.

He led the team in points and ranked second in goals and assists.

Quote of the Day

We want to make sure that whoever makes our team really makes our team by earning it and not putting them in situations where they get preference because of their status as a first-round pick or whatever it might be. That's not going to happen. Everybody has to earn their way on our team.
