Mistele scores twice as Plymouth knocks Owen Sound out of playoffs

OWEN SOUND, Ont. - Matthew Mistele scored twice for the Plymouth Whalers who eliminated the Owen Sound Attack from the Ontario Hockey League playoffs with a 3-1 win Sunday.

Mitchell Heard, with a shot into an empty net, also scored for Plymouth, which won the best-of-seven series 4-2.

Cameron Brace provided the lone goal for the Attack, who couldn't rally after Mistele scored twice in the first period.

Alex Nedeljkovic made 32 saves in net for the Whalers, while at the other end of the ice Jordan Binnington stopped 28 shots.

Quote of the Day

The groove of being behind a bench is going to be interesting at first, but thank God we have a few exhibition games to get rid of those cobwebs. Overall the excitement of it all and the freshness and coming back refreshed, all those things are going to be assets. If [the players] come ready to give their best effort in practice and games, good things are going to happen. I'm always looking for results. It's not always on the scoreboard. It's winning and building something.
