The team announced that Malkin was out with what is being called an upper-body injury.
Malkin played 18:46 in Thursday's 6-3 victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning and had a goal for the second consecutive game.
Pittsburgh has played without Crosby or Malkin 18 times this season and have a 14-4 record in those games, but this will be the Penguins' first game without either of them.
The Penguins said Malkin's absence had nothing to do with sunburn, as was suggested on Twitter.
