Flames sign Hanowski, from Iginla trade
The Flames have signed forward Ben Hanowski, one of the players acquired from the Penguins in Jarome Iginla trade, to an entry-level contract.

The Calgary Flames have signed forward Ben Hanowski, one of the two college players acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins in Jarome Iginla trade, to an entry-level contract.

The Flames said Friday the two-year deal carries an average annual value of $900,000

Hanowski, a native of Little Falls, Minn., finished his senior season at St. Cloud State on Thursday night when the Huskies lost to Quinnipiac in the NCAA Frozen Four. The Huskies captain was second on the team in goals with 17 and finished the season with 31 points in 37 games.

Hanowski was chosen by Pittsburgh in the third round (No. 63) of the 2009 NHL Draft.

Quote of the Day

I came into a team that had 65 points, that was at the bottom of the basement, a team that everybody wrote off as never going to be good. My goal is to go from the very bottom to the very top.
