Bulls take 2-0 series lead

BELLEVILLE, Ont. - A three-goal first-period deficit was too much to overcome as the Sudbury Wolves were defeated by the host Belleville Bulls 4-1 on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League playoff action.

Jordan Subban, Stephen Silas and Austen Brassard made it 3-0 in the first period for the Bulls, who have a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven second-round matchup, while Joseph Cramarossa added a fourth goal into an empty net late in the third.

Nathan Pancel scored early in the third for the Wolves, who have been outscored in the series 10-4.

Malcolm Subban stopped 17 shots for the win as Franky Palazzese made 24 saves in defeat.

Belleville went 1 for 2 on the power play while Sudbury failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.

Game 3 is scheduled for Tuesday when the Wolves host the Bulls at Sudbury Community Arena.

Quote of the Day

I have been blessed to play for 16 years in the NHL; it has been an amazing ride. I would like to thank the Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers organizations and owners for providing me the opportunity to play the sport I love for so many years. I could have never played for so long or accomplished all that I have without the unwavering love and support from my wife, Heather, our three sons, Ryan, Lucas, and Mason, and my parents.
