Stolarz 29 saves, Ryan Rupert goal and assist as Knights take 1-0 series lead

LONDON, Ont. - Anthony Stolarz made 29 saves as the London Knights downed the visiting Kitchener Rangers 4-1 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League playoff action.

Ryan Rupert had a goal and an assist for the Knights, who lead the Western Conference second-round matchup 1-0, while Tyler Ferry, Chris Tierney and Kyle Platzer scored the others.

Matt Puempel scored the lone goal for the Rangers as John Gibson stopped 33-of-36 shots in defeat.

London went 1 for 3 on the power play while Kitchener failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.

The top-seeded Knights will host the fourth-seeded Rangers at the Budweiser Gardens on Sunday for Game 2.

Quote of the Day

You don't see many. The [Drew] Doughtys, the [P.K.] Subbans, those are guys that create offense from the back and then on top of that ability, the size that he has. In the West you play against some pretty big players, and being able to clear the crease and contain the [Ryan] Getzlafs and the [Corey] Perrys and [Anze] Kopitars and players like that, we're excited about him going back there.
