Report: Kiprusoff decides to stay in Calgary
Calgary's Miikka Kiprusoff has decided he wants to stay in Calgary, TSN's Darren Dreger reported Tuesday morning.

Scratch one big name off the list of potentially available goaltenders on the day of the 2013 NHL Trade Deadline.

Calgary Flames goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff has decided he wants to stay with his team, TSN's Darren Dreger reported Tuesday morning. The 36-year-old has one year left on his contract beyond this season and carries a salary cap hit of $5.833 million.

The Toronto Maple Leafs reportedly were interested in acquiring Kiprusoff to pair with starter James Reimer. If Kiprusoff is not available, teams interested in goaltending help could turn their focus to the Vancouver Canucks' Roberto Luongo, Ottawa Senators' Ben Bishop or even the Buffalo Sabres' Ryan Miller, who reportedly have been made available at varying degrees.

Toronto reportedly has talked to the Canucks about Luongo on multiple occasions. Ottawa assistant general manager Tim Murray confirmed to reporters Tuesday that "five or six" teams have made inquiries about Bishop's availability.

Dreger reported Kiprusoff could opt to retire after this season. He is scheduled to make $1.5 million in the final year of his contract with the Flames.

Quote of the Day

I think the thing about him, No. 1, he's a competitive guy. We have no issues as far as him fitting in here with this group. No question he's going to be hungry. I think whenever you look at your back end, it's a mix-type thing, and I think [there are] things he can bring to us. He's very mobile, and even though he's not big (6 feet, 201 pounds), he certainly competes. He's a smart player.
