The Chicago Blackhawks traded forward Philippe Paradis to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday in exchange for the rights to unsigned defenseman Kirill Gotovets.

Paradis, 22, was playing with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. In 36 AHL games this season, he had one goal, seven assists and 100 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 212-pound wing was the Carolina Hurricanes’ first-round pick (No. 27) at the 2009 NHL Draft.

Gotovets, 21, recently finished his junior year at Cornell University. A seventh-round pick (No. 183) by Tampa Bay in 2009, the 5-foot-11, 194-pound blueliner did not have a point in 22 games this season.
