First the captain, then Jagr, Roy traded by Dallas Stars, who are clearly to the future

The Dallas Stars are really rebuilding for the future now.

Dallas on Tuesday traded 41-year Jaromir Jagr to Boston and sent surging centre Derek Roy to Vancouver. That came just more than a week after captain Brenden Morrow was dealt to Pittsburgh.

The latest moves came a day after a 4-0 loss to Anaheim, a team the Stars play twice more this week. Dallas is 12th in the Western Conference with 13 games left, and on track to miss the playoffs for the fifth year in a row.

Dallas got two young prospects and a conditional second-round pick from Boston, and a 23-year-old defenceman and a second-round pick from Vancouver.

The Stars now have nine picks in this summer's six-round draft.

Quote of the Day

As a player, it's obviously a sad day, but to be on the ice with some of those guys and show our respect as both teams did around center ice, it's definitely a nice touch.
