Bruins get Jaromir Jagr from Stars hoping to help offence with 10th leading career goal scorer

BOSTON - The Boston Bruins have acquired Jaromir Jagr from the Dallas Stars in an attempt to improve their shaky offence.

The 10th leading goal scorer in NHL history, who leads the Stars in points this season, Jagr was traded Tuesday for two prospects, forwards Lane MacDermid and Cody Payne, and a conditional second-round pick in this year's draft, the Stars announced.

The deal came five days after the Bruins thought they obtained forward Jarome Iginla from the Calgary Flames, only to learn Iginla had been traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

In his first season with the Stars, the 41-year-old Jagr has 14 goals and 26 points. Brad Marchand leads the Bruins with 14 goals and Patrice Bergeron is first with 31 points. Jagr has 679 career goals.

Quote of the Day

He's only 17 but he can see the ice so well and he moves the puck and goes to the open ice all the time, so I just think he's a player that is ready to play in the NHL. I'm really looking forward to coaching someone like this.
