Hurricanes activate G Dan Ellis from injured reserve, send John Muse down to minors

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Carolina Hurricanes have activated goalie Dan Ellis from injured reserve.

The team announced the move Monday, a few hours before its game at Montreal.

Ellis had been out since suffering a cut near his left knee in the final minute of a loss to New Jersey on March 21.

He was brought in during the off-season to back up Cam Ward, an All-Star who will be out at least two more weeks with a sprained left knee.

Ellis was 4-5 with a goals-against average of 2.65 when he was hurt.

The team also sent John Muse to its AHL affiliate in Charlotte. He did not play in three games as the backup to Justin Peters.

Quote of the Day

You don't see many. The [Drew] Doughtys, the [P.K.] Subbans, those are guys that create offense from the back and then on top of that ability, the size that he has. In the West you play against some pretty big players, and being able to clear the crease and contain the [Ryan] Getzlafs and the [Corey] Perrys and [Anze] Kopitars and players like that, we're excited about him going back there.
