Cote scores 2, Polivka stops 47 as Royals hold off elimination against Blazers

KAMLOOPS, B.C. - Defenceman Brett Cote broke a 2-2 tie in the third period and the Victoria Royals went on to beat the Kamloops Blazers 4-2 in a Western Hockey League playoff game on Saturday night.

The Blazers hold a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven first-round series. Game 6 will be played in Victoria on Monday. If a seventh game is needed, it would be played in Kamloops on Wednesday.

The Royals got 47 saves from goaltender Patrik Polivka, while Cote scored twice. Jamie Crooks and Logan Nelson, the latter into an empty net, also scored for Victoria.

Chase Souto and Colin Smith replied for Kamloops.

Kamloops goaltender Cole Cheveldave stopped 21 shots.

Quote of the Day

I had one really not-good game. I came back to the hotel and he [his father] was on Skype. My mother called first and said, 'Your father wants to talk to you.' So he moved my mother away, and he yelled at me for like 30 seconds. I understood him, and then he said, 'I'm done.' And he was gone. The next game I got my first shutout.
