Ben Maxwell ties game, scores in OT as St. John's beats Worcester 5-4

WORCESTER, Mass. - Ben Maxwell forced overtime then scored the game-winning goal to lift the St. John's IceCaps past the Worcester Sharks 5-4 in American Hockey League play Saturday.

Maxwell's goal at 19:07 in the third period came less than two minutes after Will O'Neill cut the deficit to one for St. John's (29-33-5).

Maxwell then scored just 23 seconds into overtime to help the lowly IceCaps win their fourth straight game.

Aaron Gagnon and Jason Gregoire also scored for St. John's, while Eddie Pasquale finished with 30 saves.

Bracken Kearns led Worcester (29-28-8) with two goals, while Jon Matsumoto and Peter Sivak also scored and Thomas Greiss stopped 22 shots.
