Barrie scores in overtime, Varlamov stops 34 shots as Avalanche beat Predators, 1-0

DENVER - Tyson Barrie scored at 50 seconds of overtime and the Colorado Avalanche beat the Nashville Predators 1-0 on Saturday.

Semyon Varlamov stopped 34 shots for his third shutout of the season and the 11th of his career.

Pekka Rinne had 23 saves for Nashville, which has lost two straight.

Barrie scored when he came down the right side and knocked in Greg Zanon's rebound past Rinne. It was Barrie's second goal of the season and ended a four-game skid for the Avalanche.

P.A. Parenteau had his team-leading 21st assist on the play.

Quote of the Day

For our team, as a group, we've never been this far before, and so it's just more lessons learned, and sometimes you have to go to the school of hard knocks to find out what works and what doesn't. We've got a young group. They've played some unreal hockey here to get us this far, and we showed if we're not going to play the proper way, a really, really good hockey team is going to beat you, and that's what they did. It's a lesson learned.
