Red Wings trade defenceman Kent Huskins to Flyers for conditional 7th-round pick in 2014

DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings have traded veteran defenceman Kent Huskins to the Philadelphia Flyers for a conditional seventh-round pick in next year's NHL draft.

The deal was announced Saturday.

Detroit signed the 32-year-old Huskins on Jan. 22, and he didn't have a point in 11 games. He previously played for St. Louis, San Jose and Anaheim, compiling 13 goals and 54 assists. Huskins helped the Ducks win the 2003 Stanley Cup title.

Quote of the Day

He's a winner. We want winners here, and he's a proven winner. He's won two Stanley Cups. He's 22 years old and been a big part of it. He's got all the right tools. He's got size (6-foot-1, 204 pounds) and strength. He's exactly what we were looking for. He's going to be a big piece of our team for many, many years to come.
