Tampa Bay's Thompson faces hearing for illegal check
Tampa Bay F Nate Thompson faces a hearing Saturday with the Dept. of Player Safety for illegal check to head of New Jersey's Matt D'Agostini.

Tampa Bay center Nate Thompson faces a hearing Saturday afternoon with the Department of Player Safety for an incident that occurred during Friday night's game against the New Jersey Devils at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

The following grounds for potential supplemental discipline are being considered: Illegal Check to the Head. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to these infractions accordingly upon further review.

The incident occurred at the 11:13 mark of the second period. Thompson made contact with New Jersey forward Matt D'Agostini near center ice. No penalty was called on the play.

Tampa Bay won the game, 5-4, in a shootout.
