Rieder with four points as Rangers eliminate Storm from post-season

KITCHENER, Ont. - Tobias Rieder scored once and set up three more as the Kitchener Rangers defeated the visiting Guelph Storm 4-2 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League playoff action.

The victory moves Kitchener into second round action while Guelph is eliminated from the post-season after droppping the Western Conference first-round matchup 4-1.

Joshua Leivo scored once and set up two more for the Rangers, who outscored Guelph 15-8 in the series, while Radek Faksa and Max Iafrate each added a goal.

Brock McGinn scored both goals for the Storm, including one by way of a penalty shot after Kitchener's Ben Thomson was called for throwing a broken stick.

John Gibson made 35 saves for the win as Garret Sparks turned away 38-of-41 shots in defeat.

Kitchener went 2 for 6 on the power play while Guelph failed to score on seven chances with the man advantage.

The Rangers must wait for the series between the Owen Sound Attack and Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds to wrap up before knowing who their second-round opponent will be. The Attack currently lead the Greyhounds 3-2 in the best-of-seven first-round matchup with Game 6 scheduled for Sunday.
