Toronto scores three times in third period to defeat Rochester 4-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Toronto Marlies scored three goals in the third period en route to a 4-1 victory over the Rochester Americans in American Hockey League play Friday.

Joe Colborne, Brad Ross, Paul Ranger and Jerry D'Amigo each scored for Toronto (37-21-8), which leads the Americans by six points atop the North Division.

Cody McCormick had the lone goal for Rochester (36-26-4) just over five minutes into the first period.

Colborne tied the game in the second and Ross scored at 15:01 in the third to give the Marlies a lead.

The Americans pulled goaltender David Leggio, only to watch Toronto score a pair of empty-net goals by Ranger and D'Amigo.

Drew MacIntyre made 14 saves for the Marlies, while Leggio stopped 36 shots.

Quote of the Day

I had one really not-good game. I came back to the hotel and he [his father] was on Skype. My mother called first and said, 'Your father wants to talk to you.' So he moved my mother away, and he yelled at me for like 30 seconds. I understood him, and then he said, 'I'm done.' And he was gone. The next game I got my first shutout.
