Elson scores winner as Rebels eliminate Raiders in first-round sweep

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. - Turner Elson scored the winner at 10:51 of the third period as the Red Deer Rebels eliminated the Prince Albert Raiders from Western Hockey League playoff action on Wednesday with a 3-2 victory.

Conner Bleackley and Brooks Maxwell also scored for the Rebels, who swept the first-round matchup 4-0, while Elson tacked on an assist for a two-point night.

Mark McNeill and Jayden Hart scored for the Raiders, who scored just five goals in the series and lost three games by one goal, and Leon Draisaitl chipped in with two assists.

Patrik Bartosak made 29 saves for the win as Luke Siemens stopped 34-of-37 shots in defeat.

Red Deer went 0 for 3 on the power play while Prince Albert scored once on five chances with the man advantage.
