Bowles scores in OT as Americans win 5-4 over Chiefs, take 2-1 series lead

KENNEWICK, Wash. - When it comes to the playoffs, Tri-City and Spokane are no strangers to overtime.

Playing overtime for the 15th time in the last 28 playoffs games against the Chiefs, Parker Bowles scored at 10:46 of overtime to send the Americans to a 5-4 victory.

The Americans, who trail the best-of-seven series 2-1, host Game 4 on Thursday night and Game 5 on Saturday.

Spokane, which had a 4-1 lead early in the second period, had its chances to make something happen in third with an early power play and 12 shots on goal, but Tri-City goalie Luke Lee-Knight turned them all away. Lee-Knight finished with 34 saves in his first career playoff start.

Bowles had two goals for Tri-City, which also got goals from Justin Feser, Drydn Dow and Marcus Messier. Connor Rankin handed out three assists.

Mike Aviani, Mitch Holmberg, Blake Gal and Liam Stewart scored for the Chiefs, who also got 38 saves from Eric Williams.

Spokane took a 3-1 lead at the end of the first with two short-handed and one power-play goal.

Quote of the Day

[He's] real confident with the puck now, getting it off his stick quick and no second-guessing. We need that. He's such a good guy in the room. He works so hard. That's the big thing. For not a big man, he just fights for every puck and when he scores, the guys appreciate that even more.
