Penguins' Fleury leaves with injury
Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury was replaced by Tomas Vokoun for the start of the third period of Tuesday night's game against the Montreal Canadiens.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Penguins finished off their 13th consecutive victory without starting goalie Marc-Andre Fleury. They're not happy with Brian Gionta about it.
 
Fleury did not play the third period of Pittsburgh's 1-0 win against the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday because of an undisclosed injury sustained during the final minute of the second period. Fleury was bowled over by teammate Tyler Kennedy, who had been run into by Gionta.

"Gionta pushed our guy into Marc, so yes, that was clear about that happened and we took exception to it," Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said. "We took exception to the play."   
 
Tomas Vokoun finished off the Penguins' third shutout of the season. Fleury's chance to break his own franchise career shutout record was derailed when he appeared dazed after the incident. Play was stopped for several moments while Fleury composed himself, and he remained in the game until the end of the period.
 
But Vokoun led Pittsburgh out of the locker room at the end of the second intermission and Fleury was not even on the bench.
 
The only update the Penguins gave on Fleury's condition or status was Bylsma saying he's "going to continue to be evaluated."
 
Matt Cooke jawed with Gionta before the opening faceoff of the third period and took a roughing minor 31 seconds into it.   

"I like that," Bylsma said of his players standing up for their goalie. "I just don't like the penalty we took.

"But I know our guys definitely went over the boards thinking this was a penalty they were going to kill off."

Gionta, for his part, denied there was any intent to run Fleury.
 
"If you watch the replay, their own guy falls on Fleury," the Canadiens captain said. "It's pretty much self-explanatory."       
 
Gionta's coach backed up his side of the story.    

"I don't think Gionta had a purpose to hit Marc-Andre, that's for sure," said Michel Therrien, who coached Fleury in the Penguins' organization for much of six seasons.

Fleury (18-5-0) earned the victory -- his eighth in a row -- to take over sole possession of the League lead in wins. He stopped all 25 shots he faced and was gunning for his second shutout of the season.
