PITTSBURGH -- Kris Letang, much like his fellow world-class teammate Evgeni Malkin, sees no reason to rush back into action from injury.

With how the Pittsburgh Penguins are playing that well without them, Norris Trophy candidate Letang and reigning Hart and Art Ross trophy winner Malkin can take their time.

Once again, each practiced with their teammates Monday at Consol Energy Center. Both, however, "remain day-to-day at this time," coach Dan Bylsma said.

Letang (lower body) has missed the past three games and Malkin (shoulder) has not played in the previous nine contests. All have been wins for the Penguins, who have a season-high 12-game winning streak.

"There's no point to rush," Letang said. "The team is doing really well ,so you want to be 100 percent. So that's what I'm going to do.

Pressed further about how he feels, the NHL's leading scorer among defensemen allowed that he felt "better."

"I try to get better every day," Letang said. "There's no time frame right now... We'll see how I feel tomorrow and go from there."

Malkin expressed a preference to follow a similar mindset after the morning skate in advance of a 2-1 overtime win Sunday against the Philadelphia Flyers. He was not made available to the media Monday.
