Theoret has 3 points in Colts win over Frontenacs; Barrie takes 3-0 series lead

KINGSTON, Ont. - Mitchell Theoret scored twice and added an assist as the Barrie Colts dropped the Kingston Frontenacs 4-2 on Monday in Ontario Hockey League playoff action.

Barrie now leads the best-of-seven series 3-0, with Game 4 in Kingston, Ont., on Wednesday.

Andreas Athanasiou and Winnipeg Jets prospect Mark Scheifele also scored for the Colts, while Mathias Niederberger made 23 saves for the win.

Mikko Vainonen and Ryan Kujawinski replied for Kingston. Goaltender Mike Morrison stopped 26-of-29 shots for the Frontenacs.

Theoret scored the first and last goals of the game. His first came 1:21 into the first period and then he put the puck into an empty net with less than a minute to play in the third.

Barrie couldn't score on its seven power plays, while Kingston went 1 for 7 with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

I think everyone left it out there. Every game this season, regular season and playoffs, we played as hard as we could. We're not out of the playoffs right now because of lack of effort, and that's all that we can ask of each other.
