Rutkowski with three points as Winterhawks even series with Silvertips

PORTLAND, Ore. - Troy Rutkowski scored once and set up two more as the Portland Winterhawks defeated the visiting Everett Silvertips 4-1 on Saturday in Western Hockey League playoff action.

Ty Rattie had a goal and an assist for the Winterhawks, who evened the first-round matchup at one game apiece, while Shaun MacPherson and Derrick Pouliot added a goal each.

Joshua Winquist scored the lone goal for the Silvertips.

Mac Carruth only had to make 10 saves for the win as Austin Lotz turned away 30-of-34 shots in defeat.

Portland went 1 for 7 on the power play while Everett scored once on four chances with the man advantage.

Game 3 is set for Wednesday when the Silvertips host the Winterhawks at Comcast Arena.

Quote of the Day

Obviously there's a lot of expectations around me but it's something I try not to focus on. I'm just trying to go out there, be myself on the ice every day, try to get better, be myself around the guys in the locker room. I think that's what's made me successful and the person that I am.
