DETROIT - Andrew Copp scored twice, and Michigan used a four-goal second period to post a 6-2 upset of Miami (Ohio) in a CCHA semifinal on Saturday night at Joe Louis Arena.
The Wolverines will take on Notre Dame in the conference final on Sunday here, with the winner earning the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Notre Dame defeated Ohio State 3-1 in the other semifinal.
A.J. Treais had a goal and an assist in Michigan's second-period outburst that followed a scoreless first. The Red Hawks received a goal from Sean Kuraly at 17:14 of the second, but top-seeded Miami (24-11-5) still trailed 4-1 headed into the third and couldn't recover.
Michigan (18-18-3) is the No. 4 seed of the tournament.
