Report: Vanek will return to Sabres lineup Saturday
Report: Thomas Vanek will return to Buffalo Sabres lineup Saturday.

Buffalo Sabres forward Thomas Vanek expects to return from a one-game injury absence and play Saturday night at the Montreal Canadiens, according to a report by Buffalo News reporter John Vogl.

Vanek missed Thursday's 5-4 shootout win against the Toronto Maple Leafs with a lower-body injury. Sabres interim coach Ron Rolston told the media after the team's morning skate that Vanek was still sore from being hit with a shot in the second period of Tuesday's game against the Canadiens.

Vanek leads the Sabres in scoring with 14 goals and 17 assists in 27 games.

Quote of the Day

You don't see many. The [Drew] Doughtys, the [P.K.] Subbans, those are guys that create offense from the back and then on top of that ability, the size that he has. In the West you play against some pretty big players, and being able to clear the crease and contain the [Ryan] Getzlafs and the [Corey] Perrys and [Anze] Kopitars and players like that, we're excited about him going back there.
