The Washington Post is reporting Washington Capitals defenseman Mike Green has said he will play Thursday when the Caps face the Winnipeg Jets.

The Washington Post is reporting Washington Capitals defenseman Mike Green has said he will play Thursday when they face the Winnipeg Jets.

Green has missed the past 10 games and has played twice since Feb. 14, due to a groin injury. He missed two weeks in February after initially getting hurt, and returned for games Feb. 26 against the Carolina Hurricanes and Feb. 27 at the Philadelphia Flyers. He saw more than 21 minutes of ice time in each game, but hasn't played since.

In 16 games this season, Green has two goals and five assists.

Quote of the Day

You don't see many. The [Drew] Doughtys, the [P.K.] Subbans, those are guys that create offense from the back and then on top of that ability, the size that he has. In the West you play against some pretty big players, and being able to clear the crease and contain the [Ryan] Getzlafs and the [Corey] Perrys and [Anze] Kopitars and players like that, we're excited about him going back there.
