Sabres' Thomas Vanek leaves with injury
Buffalo Sabres forward Thomas Vanek limped to the dressing room in the second period of Tuesday's game against the Montreal Canadiens

MONTREALBuffalo Sabres forward Thomas Vanek limped to the dressing room in the second period of Tuesday's game against the Montreal Canadiens after getting hit with a puck during a Buffalo power play.

Vanek was hunched over on the bench in pain after he was hit with the shot by Sabres defenseman Christian Ehrhoff, and went to the dressing room at the next whistle.

The Sabres announced during the second intermission that Vanek suffered an upper-body injury and will not return.

Quote of the Day

I downplayed the first one because I thought it's just a hockey game. We just want to win the game; it's against our rival and we want the two points. I downplayed it, but now having gone through the first one I look back and say, 'Geez, that was really cool.' I think as I've grown a bit older I've got a lot more appreciation for what we're allowed to do every day.
