EVERETT, Wash. - Tyler Sandhu scored a hat trick to lead the Everett Silvertips to a 7-5 victory over the Tri-City Americans on Sunday in the final game of the WHL season for both teams.
The 16-year-old Sandhu scored three times in the first 28 minutes as Everett took a 6-1 lead.
Landon Oslanski, Carson Stadnyk, Reid Petryk and Mitch Skapski also scored for Everett (25-40-3-4), Joshua Winquist added three assists, and Daniel Cotton made 24 saves.
Malte Stromwall scored twice, while Zachary Yuen, Connor Rankin and Jesse Mychan also scored for the Americans. Luke Lee-Knight made 17 saves for Tri-City (40-27-2-3), which finished the season on a five-game losing streak.
Everett was 0 for 4 on the power play, while Tri City connected 3 of 6 times with the man advantage.
The game had no bearing on the playoffs as Tri-City had already nailed down the fifth seed in the Western Conference, and Everett was already locked into the eighth seed.
The Americans played a skater short as they rested veteran defencemen, and Everett gave regular shifts to three 15-year-old call-ups.
