Schumacher scores twice as Greyhounds down Rangers

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - Michael Schumacher scored twice and set up one more as the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds defeated the visiting Kitchener Rangers 6-4 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League play.

Andrew Fritsch and Jared McCann each had a goal and two assists for the Greyhounds (36-25-6) while Darnell Nurse and Dylan Staples scored the others.

Ben Thomson led the Rangers (39-20-9) with two goals and an assist and Owen Stewart and Joshua Leivo had a goal apiece.

Matt Murray made 35 saves for the win as Joel Vienneau turned away 32 shots in a losing cause.

Quote of the Day

I definitely think going back down helped me, I had a lot of confidence down there, I played a lot of minutes and I think that helped me a lot. With the 37 games up here, that gave me experience as well. I know what it takes to play in the NHL and now it's time for me to show that I'm capable of being a full-time NHL player.
