VANCOUVER – Vancouver Canucks forward David Booth left Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings late in the first period with an apparent left leg injury. He left Rogers Arena a few hours later on crutches, with his left foot wrapped in a bulky walking boot.

Booth ended up on his backside during a puck battle with Detroit defenseman Brendan Smith in the corner in the final minute of the period, and struggled to even get up as the play went up the ice the other way. He eventually managed to get to his feet and skate off, putting almost no weight on his left skate as he came off and hobbled towards the dressing room after the period ended.
Booth missed the first 14 games of the season after suffering a groin injury during on-ice training camp physical testing, and has struggled to score since coming back. He scored his first goal of the season into an empty net on Thursday against the Nashville Predators and has just three points in 11 games.
That it happened against Detroit shouldn't be a surprise for a Michigan native that grew up cheering on the Red Wings, but has only played against them four times in seven NHL seasons. He missed an earlier game this season with the flu.
