Hicketts, Fransoo supply offence as Royals defeat Silvertips

VICTORIA - Joe Hicketts and Jordan Fransoo each scored two goals as the Victoria Royals defeated the visiting Everett Silvertips 4-1 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.

Despite the loss, Everett clinched the final playoff spot in the Western Conference after the Prince George Cougars were defeated by the Kamloops Blazers.

Steven Hodges picked up three assists for the Royals (34-30-7), who halted their three-game winless streak, and Coleman Vollrath made 19 saves for the victory.

Joshua Winquist scored the lone goal for the Silvertips (24-40-6) and Austin Lotz made 28 saves in defeat.

Victoria went 1 for 4 on the power play while Everett failed to score on four chances with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

It's pretty crazy, but believe me when I say we didn't draft these players with the mindset we had to because they had good hockey-playing dads. It just turned out that way. But we're certainly glad they're a part of our organization.

— Arizona Coyotes director of amateur scouting Tim Bernhardt regarding the coincidence that six of the organization's top prospects are sons of former NHL players
