Ducks acquire Steckel from Maple Leafs
The Ducks on Friday acquired David Steckel from the Maple Leafs in exchange for Ryan Lasch and a seventh-round pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.

The Anaheim Ducks on Friday acquired center David Steckel from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for right wing Ryan Lasch and a seventh-round pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.

Steckel, 31, was a 2001 first-round draft pick (No. 30) of the Los Angeles Kings. He spent five-plus seasons with the Washington Capitals before being dealt to the New Jersey Devils in February 2011. He has spent the past two seasons with the Maple Leafs, primarily as a fourth-line center. He averaged 7:04 of ice time and had one assist in 13 games for Toronto in 2012-13. He also won 38 of 81 faceoffs (46.9 percent).

Lasch, an Orange County, Calif., native, signed a two-year contract with the hometown Ducks last May.

Lasch completed four years of college hockey at St. Cloud State of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association from 2006-10. He won the Finnish Elite League scoring title in 2011-12 with Lahti, producing 62 points (24 goals) in 59 games.

He played 19 games with Anaheim's American Hockey League affiliate in Norfolk this season, notching two goals and five points. He has recently been on assignment in Sweden, playing for Vaxjo of the Elitserien, where he's collected five assists in 10 matches.
