The Columbus Dispatch is reporting former Columbus Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson has been hired by the Edmonton Oilers as a scout.

According to the report, Howson will spend the remainder of the 2012-13 season working for the Oilers scouting both pro teams and American college players.

Prior to joining the Blue Jackets, Howson had spent 13 years with the Oilers' organization, including six as the team's assistant general manager.
