Lockhart has two goals, assist to pace Thunderbirds over Americans 8-3

KENT, Wash. - Luke Lockhart had two goals and an assist to pace the Seattle Thunderbirds to an 8-3 victory over the Tri-City Americans on Tuesday in the WHL.

Seattle (24-37-9) increased its lead to three points over the Everett Silvertips and seven points over Prince George for seventh place in the Western Conference with two games left to play in the regular season.

The loss drops Tri-City to 40-25-4. The Americans will play Spokane in the opening round of the playoffs and are tied with the Chiefs for fourth place with 84 points.

Seth Swenson, Roberts Lipsbergs, Shea Theodore, Adam Kambietz, Connor Sanvido and Conner Honey all scored for Seattle.

Justin Feser had his 43rd goal of the season for Tri-City with Malte Stromwall and Luke Nickles also scoring for the Americans.

Backup goaltender Danny Mumaugh had his first win of the season for Seattle, subbing for suspended goaltender Brandon Glover who served the first of a two-game suspension.
